Our company was co-founded by the current International Chair of ISO/TC 37/SC 5 Committee. As a result, translation standards are incorporated into every step of our business activities. Not only does our leadership have a deep understanding of best practices, but it has also actively participated in creating the industry’s standards. It goes without saying that we have been certified by the relevant standardization bodies.
We were the first Canadian translation company to have completed the ISO standardization procedure for the translation industry standards 17100 and 18587.
ISO 17100:2015 provides requirements for the core processes, resources, and other aspects necessary for the delivery of a quality translation service that meets applicable specifications.
Application of ISO 17100:2015 also provides the means by which a translation service provider (TSP) can demonstrate conformity of specified translation services to ISO 17100:2015 and the capability of its processes and resources to deliver a translation service that will meet client and other applicable specifications. Applicable specifications can include those of the client, of the TSP itself, and of any relevant industry codes, best-practice guides, or legislation.
ISO 18587:2017 provides requirements for the process of full human post-editing of machine translation output and post-editors' competences. It is intended to be used by TSPs, their clients, and post-editors. It is only applicable to content processed by MT systems.
We are a proud Corporate Member of the Canadian Language Industry Association (AILIA). We received our certification for CGSB‑131.10‑2017 in September 2010. The certification is based on CAN/CGSB‑131.10‑2008 Translation Services, a national standard developed by the Canadian General Standards Board and approved by the Standards Council of Canada. It involved the participation of representatives from AILIA, professional associations, government, education, clients and other stakeholders.
Quality certified by the Canadian Women’s Business Enterprise (WBE) – BG Communications completed a rigorous and stringent due diligence process aimed at businesses owned, managed, and controlled by a woman.
